India to invest over USD 14 Bln in developing inland waterways

The government will put in over USD 14 Bln with aid from World Bank in the development of inland waterways over the next 3-5 years. The mission includes a major project on the Ganges, termed as NW-1, which will be made navigable with 3m, 2.5m and 2.2 m drafts so that 1500-2,000 ton ships can move through the year.
