Indian shipbuilding attracting investments from domestic MNCs

The Indian shipbuilding industry is attracting not only foreign but also the domestic multinationals Larsen and Toubro, Reliance Defence etc. The domestic multi-nationals are keen to invest in the defence sector. Cochin Shipyard has recently won the tender to build 8 anti-submarine ships, which would have a 700-tons displacement and a range of 200 n miles and a maximum speed of around 25 knots and an endurance of 1,800 n miles at 14 knott. The first vessel from Cochin Shipyard is expected to be delivered in next 42 months and after that, the state-owned shipbuilder will deliver two vessels every year. Read More
