India plans to send a container train across 6000 km from Dhaka to Istanbul

#MaritimeBlog: On the lines of China’s ambitious ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative, Indian Railways is trying to connect a group of disparate railway networks across South and West Asia to send a container train from Dhaka to Istanbul.
The 6000-km route goes through five countries—Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey. Railway officials of these five countries are likely to meet in New Delhi later this month to finetune the plan. The project is expected to commence in 2017.
At Maritime Nation India 2017, we have a conference, dedicated to Multimodal Connectivity.
