Indian Railways plans to invest USD 6.2 Bln to build a 1,100-km east-coast freight corridor connecting West Bengal’s Kharagpur to Andhra Pradesh’s Vijaywada. The freight corridor will link the mineral-rich areas of the east with industries in the south and will have a total carrying capacity of 200 million tonnes of freight per annum.
