New York to invest USD 100 Mln in maritime and rail freight transportation program

New York city has unveiled a plan to invest USD 100 million into increase maritime and rail freight transportation in order to reduce congestion from trucks and create new jobs in longshore and vessel operations. Trucking accounts for about 90 percent of freight movement in the city and the city wants to increase the role of waterborne and rail services.
