Port barge connectivity to reduce city traffic from JNPT

The Mumbai Port Trust plans to decongest Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai roads by ferrying cargo by barges that arrives at JNPT in Nhava Sheva. It is expected to save on fuels, reduce transportation cost and curb pollution. Presently, 600 trailers move from JNPT to Bhiwandi and 900 trucks enter Mumbai daily.
